Silence Is Not An Option

We are truly in a fight for the essence of this country and who we’re going to be, and we’re nowhere near agreeing on that.

The funny thing about ballet is that it’s strikingly similar to being a Black woman in America.

In America, living your life should not be a matter of life and death.

I’ve found myself thinking a lot about Kobe these days.

We can’t just stick to football. Not as a team. Not as an organization. And we shouldn’t as a country.

They’re out there putting in the work. Leading the way. Making things happen.

Without justice for all, none of us are free.

We need VOICES. And we need more Black players on the field. What are we waiting for?

That fear and understanding that this is what goes on, that’s something you can’t teach somebody.

A press release or statement from the team didn’t feel right. I needed to speak from the heart.

Keep on fighting, Black girls. I see you. I got you.

When someone says a black man is being aggressive, that’s it — it’s over. There’s no coming back from that. Anything you say or do will just prove their point.

I’ve had more run ins with racist people than I have ever before in my life in the past few weeks. All because I spoke up.

We simply do not have any more time to waste. This is too important.

If we in the Black community want change, we have to go make it.

I refuse to regress, nor do I want to remain stagnant.

Any racism at all, on any level, is worth confronting, and worth exposing, and worth speaking up about.

It’s time to think boldly about what a reimagined world can look like.

We have to make sure that this doesn’t die out.
